​Sean Votaw is the founder and managing attorney of The Votaw Law Firm, PLLC. He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney, serving in the Special Crimes and Domestic Violence Litigation Bureaus, where he gained extensive courtroom and litigation experience handling complex and sensitive matters.
Following his work as a prosecutor, Mr. Votaw served as Associate and General Counsel for Carnegie Associates LLP, a wealth advisory firm specializing in estate planning and complex financial instruments. In this role, he advised clients on sophisticated financial and legal strategies, further strengthening his expertise in advisory and transactional matters.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Votaw continues to advise a wide range of political candidates on complex legal and regulatory issues. He has served as legal counsel on numerous political campaigns, including two United States Presidential primary and general election campaigns, as well as Senatorial and United States House of Representatives special and general elections.
Mr. Votaw is also the co-founder of e-merge Consulting LLC, which advises nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and political organizations on the strategic use of big data tools to support and advance their missions.
Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Votaw serves as an advisor to several nonprofit organizations, including the Voter Protection Corps and the Interfaith Nutrition Network, reflecting his ongoing commitment to civic engagement and community service.
Mr. Votaw earned his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Society. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from the University of Massachusetts, graduating with high Latin honors. He is licensed to practice law in multiple state and federal jurisdictions and, in 2009, was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
